True Acupuncture is a classical style of Acupuncture that is untouched by the westernization and standardization of Chinese medicine.  It remains rooted in time-honored acupuncture theories.

What makes me different?

Not all acupuncture is created equal. If you have ever had acupuncture and had a bad experience, or acupuncture did not work for you, we encourage you to give it another try. This style of acupuncture focuses on the whole patient every time, rather than only the specific symptoms a patient has. I use precise point location with silver plated and 24k gold plated needles to minimize the number of needles and to maximize the treatment.  The unique benefits of True Acupuncture include:

  • Only a few needles are used
  • Fewer treatments are needed
  • Longer lasting results
  • Constitutional treatments
  • I do not just treat the symptoms: I use extensive pulse diagnostics to understand what all the symptoms are saying about the whole body
  • Wider range of conditions treated more effectively

Did you know that Acupuncture treats more than pain?

While many seem to know about acupuncture as natural pain relief or pain management, most do not realize that acupuncture can also effectively help the body overcome many acute and chronic conditions including allergies, acid reflux, arthritis and bursitis, fatigue and chronic fatigue syndrome, infertility, PMS, menopause, low libido, headaches, insomnia, sports injuries and so much more.

The World Health Organization (WHO) established a list of the conditions for which acupuncture is recommended as a treatment method.

Acupuncture as Primary Care

image1-12.JPG

Acupuncture has been a primary care modality for thousands of years in different parts of the world. Traditional Chinese Medicine's (TCM) style of acupuncture, the most common form of acupuncture used by practitioners today, has not been around for thousands of years as it is a much younger form of acupuncture.

People relied on acupuncture to treat every condition, from prevention and health maintenance, to acute and chronic disorders as it was the primary form of medicine in China.

This style of acupuncture that I practice, entitled "True Acupuncture" or le vrai acuponcture (in French), was elucidated by George Soulie de Morant. Interestingly, George Soulie de Morant was sent to China at the turn of the 20th century for a Bank position (although he had wanted to pursue medicine). He witnessed a cholera epidemic during which acupuncture yielded better results than the Western medicines of the time. For nearly two decades in China, Soulie de Morant studied with the most noted acupuncture practitioners of the time, eventually receiving the highest civilian award, the Coral Globe, for his achievements. "He was considered a Chinese doctor by the Chinese themselves, an unheard-of accomplishment for a foreigner, then or now." [Soulie de Morant, G. (1994) Chinese Acupuncture (English Edition). Brookline, Massachusetts: Paradigm Publications.]

He remained in China until 1917 and continued his work in France. Soulie de Morant continued to demonstrated that acupuncture, as an art and science, was equal to Western Medicine, if not more effective in some ways as the body is seen is an entire, functional system.

Throughout my Clinical practice of True Acupuncture, I have witnessed acupuncture treat many conditions more effectively, where neither TCM point protocols or Western Medicine were able to resolve. We cannot compartmentalize our body systems and must, at the primary level, understand and study the endless connections that exist in the human machine.
